IronMan Magazine
Any of you that are actually taking the time to read these are seeing a part of history that few in todays training world are aware of. To see the material here is still relevant and sometimes a head of the times still is my goal.
If you have any questions or comments please leave them or contact me at fred@fredkoch.com.
The benefit of having all the issues of my articles in Ironman is I can jump around when I find something I think that is really interesting. When I started to release the articles on Periodization I was sure the information was still relevent and see it still is. The big breakthrough after the articles was in December 1992 we released a do it yourself version of the Ironman Training System. We called it the “THE IRONMAN TRAINING System Success Guide For the American Bodybuilder”. This book explained all you needed to know to design your own programs and to do the calculations for every set and rep for each of the workouts in the phases.
I have made numerous changes in designing programs since I first started. Most important are the changes in the formulas for the workout sets and reps. Since I have plenty of people to experiment on as a gym owner I can continue to improve the system. This appendix is included with the orginal. To order a PDF copy check out the end of the this post.
This is the fourth of my reposts of the release of the IronMan Bodybuilding Training System. As always I encourage you to make comments and let me know what your thoughts are.

In September of 1991, IronMan Bodybuilding Magazine , one of the the largest and most respected Magazines in history decided to release the periodization system Tudor Bompa theorized and myself and a great team of guys put together as ” The Ironman Training System”.
As I have been reading through the old articles it came to me that what we put together then is still relevant to, actually we were way ahead of our times. Since my writing and editing ability leaves a lot to be desired I will encourage you to read through the material. I am going to republish the articles as we released them. If you are one of those people that still question all the bullshit that you read on the web these days I am sure you will agree with me that something still is missing.
