I have spent some time in the last year writing about some of the ridiculous articles coming out on the web these days. As many of you that have read my ideas know I am a firm disbeliever in this “What is the research to back it up” line. Seems that so many writers, scientists are really under the belief that all the research that can be done is already done in strength and fitness. In my opinion even most of the research is flawed as you can read here about my opinion on EMG Research . You are also aware of my belief that the Abdominal muscles are made of the same types of muscle fibers as the rest of the muscles.
Thus, we can to the focus of this “rant”. I read an article recently that I just couldn’t let go. It’s main point was that if you work your abdominals in the gym do only 10-15 reps, never as much as 100 or you may wear out your vertebrae.
Wearing body parts out…. where have I heard that before, squats will wear out your knees, bench press will wear out your shoulders. There has been so many “experts- scientists- researchers” talking this talk over the past few years and worst yet, so many people just believing it while the ass kissing continues. Please Stop!
Yes, I live in Norway and try to keep up with US news. Seems I can’t find any major law suits in the US awarding all the masons, and other stone works any big settlements on “forced over use of the spine”.
Becomes even funnier when I look at the land here in Norway. You cannot dig a hole of any size without hitting rocks and as you see from the pictures the Norwegians are just masters of stone work, in all forms.
My advice to the “experts” is maybe you should get out of the gym and lab and take a walk around the real world.
